This is a chance to meet the rest of the community and to enjoy freshly brewed coffee or tea with a homemade piece of cake or biscuit. It is open to all and meets in the Memorial Hall every Tuesday afternoon.
On first Tuesdays of Winter months we are open from 1pm until 3.30 pm for homemade soups, followed by a selection of desserts, tea and coffee. From April we continue to open at 1pm on the first Tuesday of each month to offer salads or savouries and desserts.
On other Tuesdays we open from 2.30 to 4pm.
There is always the opportunity to borrow a library book, pick up a donated paperback, find out what’s going on in the village and elsewhere, and buy home made greetings cards.
We also provide a Library Service in conjunction with Cumbria County Council.
The Exchange is run entirely by volunteers and without this support it could not thrive or survive. The commitment is not great – just once per month – so please get involved as the rewards to the community are so beneficial. For more details contact:
- Chair Lesleyann Morgan [Appleby] 61529
- Secratary Cathy Smith [Appleby] 62862
Always Available at the Exchange
Quality Teas and Coffees at just £1 – with unlimited free top ups and a biscuit or cake for an extra 50p. Also hot chocolate, herbal infusions and soft drinks.
Bolton Book Drop. Cumbria County Council Library Service continues to bring four boxes of books every two months for you to borrow. Just remember to bring your library user card (or join up with our volunteer librarians Sheila and Brian Summerscales.) You can offer suggestions on the range of books that are stocked if you wish.
Homemade cards by our own card maker Christine. You can order cards for any special occasion. Postage stamps are available from the cash desk.
Book Exchange – bring your unwanted up to date paperbacks and take others from the wide selection available. From time to time excess numbers of books are taken to charity shops, so your donated books are never wasted.
Local produce. A stall for anyone to bring along garden surplus, plants, jams and preserves – or simply anything that you think might sell. Maybe you have more seedlings than you need, or too many plants of one type? Bring them along and maybe someone else can use them. 10% of your selling price goes to the Exchange, or you can choose just to give away what you don’t need. Contact the Secretary if you would like a regular stall, or have questions.
Foot care. We have been fortunate in obtaining the services of a qualified Foot Health Professional. She is Aggie Koza (MCFHP MAFHP) and can be contacted on: <awaiting GDPR permission> and she will be able to let you know which dates she will be at the Memorial Hall during Bolton Exchange so that an appointment can be made for you.
